OREANDA-NEWS. The Supreme Administrative Court of Berlin and Brandenburg rejected the lawsuit against the preparation by the American company Tesla of a site for the construction of its first European plant in the vicinity of the German capital. This is stated in a press release published on Thursday on the court’s official website.

The lawsuit against Tesla was filed by the Brandenburg Green League and the Bavarian Landscape and Biodiversity Conservation Association. The decision to reject the claim was made in connection with the provision of legal confirmation of the grounds for the construction of the Tesla plant near Berlin, the report said. In late January, the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper reported that seven unexploded American bombs from World War II were found in a forest near Berlin, where a site is being prepared for the construction of the Tesla plant.

In November 2019, Tesla CEO Ilon Musk announced plans to build the company's first European plant in the vicinity of Berlin. The new plant will be called Gigafactory 4 and will be located near the under construction Willy Brandt International Airport, which is located on the border of Berlin and the federal state of Brandenburg.

At new facilities in Europe, batteries and power plants will be produced, as well as a Tesla Model 3 sedan and a compact Tesla Model Y crossover. The company plans to start operations in 2021.
