OREANDA-NEWS  Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) may start production of cars under the Volga brand with the support of a new technology partner next year, intends to decide on a technical partner in the near future, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, told reporters.

"Yes," Manturov said, answering a question about the relevance of the project to revive the Volga brand. He also confirmed that the production of cars under this brand is planned to be organized by analogy with Moskvich, that is, with the involvement of a technology partner.

"Colleagues say that the development of a new model takes about 8-9 months. But we are taking an additional reserve period of time: it is planned to decide on a partner in the near future. Take a year, say. By next summer, I think," said the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, answering the question about the timing of the start of production.
