Technology he demonstrated on the car of its own brand Tesla. According to the entrepreneur, such wheels can be manufactured for other Autonomous electric vehicles

“You can drive at a speed of more than 240 kilometers per hour. At this speed, it seems that you teleport through the city.  All tunnels will be constantly circulating cars for pedestrians and cyclists," Musk tweeted.

The construction of the test tunnel cost The Boring Company 10 million dollars. For the construction of tunnels used a specially designed machine for drilling "Nanni". According to the Musk, its diameter — 7.9 m, length — 121.9 m, weight — 1200 ton.

In June of this year, the company completed the construction of a section with a length of more than 4.3 km. Passengers will move through the tunnel on a high-speed electric bus, the speed of movement will be 241 km/h.

Priority after the start of operation of the tunnel, according to the Musk, will be given to pedestrians and cyclists. In this case, after completion of the discount period the cost of travel in the system will be below the price of a bus ticket.

Elon Musk founded the drilling company The Boring Company at the end of 2016. The Mask plan provides for the parallel construction of two tunnel networks in the Los Angeles area (California) and in the capital region on the East coast.
