OREANDA-NEWS The Russian shipyard Imperium will build an electric cruise ship with a panoramic restaurant, bar and spa area for trips on Lake Baikal. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Sitronics Group.

The vessel will be designed for long trips on the lake. It is being built by order of Vodohod company. The hull of the vessel will begin to be built in 2024 at the Perm Shipyard (part of the Imperium). The three-deck electric ship Baikal will correspond to a five-star hotel in terms of service and comfort. Baikal will be able to accommodate 68 passengers in business class and economy class cabins. During the inter-navigation period, the electric vessel will be able to be used as a floating hotel.

The vessel is innovative for the domestic shipbuilding industry, said Nikolai Malukhin, CEO of Perm Shipyard. "Its implementation will involve all the competencies previously accumulated by our enterprises during the development and serial production of passenger electric vessels," he said.

For the operation of the vessel, charging capacities and berths will be built in Irkutsk, on Olkhon Island, in the village of Ust-Barguzin, in the villages of Turka, Listvyanka and Tankhoy, added Rishat Bagautdinov, General Director of Vodokhod. Thanks to an alternative source for recharging batteries on board, the autonomous navigation distance will be up to one hundred kilometers, or seven days, he added.
