OREANDA-NEWS Simplified requirements of the technical regulations regarding equipping cars with directional stability systems (ESP) will continue to operate in Russia until the end of 2024, but from February 1, cars manufactured in the country must comply with the eco-standard of at least Euro-3, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
The regulator refers to the changes published on Wednesday, which were introduced into government Decree No. 855 on the application of simplified technical regulations in the automotive industry. The adopted amendments will contribute to the approximation to the requirements of the technical regulations TR CU 018/2011, the Ministry of Industry and Trade notes.
The Ministry recalls that with continued easing in terms of ESP systems, cars manufactured in the country since December last year must necessarily be equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The requirement to equip passive safety systems will become mandatory from 2025.
"As for the import of cars under the parallel import mechanism, for cars of brands that have officially ceased their activities in the territory of the Russian Federation, the safety assessment mechanism under resolution No. 855 has been extended until December 31, 2027 in order to provide the population with cars of various market segments," the Ministry of Industry and Trade reports.
Certification of cars of those brands that have not stopped official deliveries to Russia for operation on the territory of the EAEU and Russia since October last year has been carried out within the framework of the technical regulations on the safety of wheeled vehicles.
"From February 1, 2024, this requirement will also apply to electric vehicles and hybrid cars of brands from friendly countries," the Ministry of Industry and Trade notes.
