OREANDA-NEWS. The system for recognizing people by biometrics will be introduced in all types of public transport in Russia by 2024, said the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev at the New Knowledge marathon.

"We are going by 2024 in Russia to create an opportunity for biometrics, as with a passport, you will use all public modes of transport. They will scan your face, they will recognize that it is you," the Izvestia newspaper quotes him.

Saveliev spoke about such a possibility at the beginning of the summer. In July, the Ministry of Transport presented the Digital Transformation Strategy until 2030. It says that passengers will be able to use this technology to pay for travel and go through security checks at airports and train stations.

In addition, it is planned to increase the average travel speed in urban public transport by five percent by 2024, and by 37% by 2030.

The other day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that from October 15, all metro stations in the capital will have access to the Face Pay system, the test of which began in the metro in August.
