OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian airline Belavia has stopped accepting citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Syria on flights from Dubai to Minsk. This is stated in a statement posted on the carrier's website on Sunday, November 14.
As noted, the ban has been in effect since November 14 and was adopted in accordance with the «decision of the competent authorities of the UAE». «Passengers who fall under this ban will be able to return the full cost of air tickets at the place of purchase», the document says. At the same time, the airline emphasizes that for many years it has not operated regular or charter flights to Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen or Syria and «has never facilitated the transportation of illegal migrants to the Republic of Belarus».
Earlier, Belavia reported that from November 12 it stops transporting citizens of Iraq, Syria and Yemen by flights from Turkey to Belarus.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi authorities are planning to start exporting their citizens who are on the border of Belarus and Poland, the Middle Eastern media reported with reference to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.
According to the official representative of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmad al-Sahhaf, 571 Iraqi citizens were found in temporary camps deployed in the border area, but it is difficult to establish their exact number. On Thursday, November 18, the Government of Iraq will organize the first flight to evacuate Iraqis wishing to return to their homeland.
