OREANDA-NEWS The management of the Russian concern AvtoVAZ is investing a record amount of about 600 million rubles in the modernization of car production in recent years. This was stated by the president of the company Maxim Sokolov, his words are quoted by TASS.

He explained that it was about the intention to improve and establish production lines at their enterprises. The allocated funds will be used, among other things, to modernize the Granta line for the launch of new budget Iskra cars, which is scheduled for early next year.

Currently, Sokolov assured, the carmaker's employees are upgrading equipment in the Lada Vesta welding shop for the Lada Aura project. In turn, within the framework of the Lada Iskra project, work is being carried out in the welding and assembly shop. In addition, employees are engaged in preparing the zone for the formation and delivery of kit kits to the assembly line. The concern also took care of improving the test benches for new cars, Sokolov summarized.

Earlier, AvtoVAZ told about the preparations for the release of Lada Vesta CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). It is expected that the hybrid car will be equipped with a 90-liter cylinder, designed for 18 cubic meters of gas, and is capable of driving a thousand kilometers without refueling. Its engine can run on both gasoline and methane. The use of the latter, it is claimed, increases the life of the engine and reduces fuel costs by more than three times.
