OREANDA-NEWS. In Astana has finished 25th Meeting of the Border railroads comission of Kazakhstan and China. The head of JSC "NC" Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" Askar Mamin and the Chief of Urumchi Railway Shan’ Liczyun signed a number of documents.

During the meeting, which was held from 22 to 26th of August, the Parties discussed issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

In recent years, both sides carried out extensive work to develop the international transport and increase the capacity of the Dostyk and Alashankou stations, implement traffic volumes at the Altynkol – Khorgos piece of line.

In 2015, the volume of cargo transportation between Kazakhstan and China amounted in 7089 thousand tonnes. For seven months of 2016 over the railway border Dostyk - Alashankou and Altynkol - Khorgos transported 4495 thousand tons of cargo, which is on 127 thousand tons more than the same period of 2015. It is planned to transport up to 9 million tons of cargo by the end of this year, which is higher in 23 percent than it was last year .

There is positive dynamic of container traffic’s growth. In the seven months of this year, by the way China - Europe - China through the territory of Kazakhstan proceeded 554 container trains, which is in 2.5 times more if compare with the same period of 2015.

The sides expressed the readiness to contribute increasing of container volumes at the direction of China - Europe China, by using transport-transit potential of Kazakhstan.

At the meeting was pre-agreed the volume of cargo transportation through the railway border in 2017. The project amount is 11.5 million tons.
