Bridge Replacement Work Set to Improve
OREANDA-NEWS. The bridge which takes Haslucks Green Road over the railway line has come to the end of its useful life and requires replacement. The work forms part of Network Rail’s multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan to build a bigger, better and more reliable railway network for passengers.
The drop-in event will take place on Monday, 15 August between 4pm and 7pm at Shirley Evangelical Church on Green Lane. This will give residents and those who may be affected by the work to meet with the project team and ask any questions they may have.
Dominic Mottram from Network Rail said “We recognise the work to install this new bridge will cause some disruption and thank people in advance for their patience. The bridge has come to the end of its useful life and to ensure the railway and road bridge continue to be safe and reliable, we are going to replace it. This work is part of our Railway Upgrade Plan which will provide a better and more reliable railway for passengers.”
As part of the project, the Haslucks Green Road bridge will be completely closed from Saturday, 1 October to Friday, 11 November. During that time a sign-posted diversionary route will be in place.
Residents who would like additional information can call Network Rail’s 24-hour helpline on 08457 114141.
