IRU has joined forces with 28 other EU transport associations
OREANDA-NEWS. IRU has joined forces with 28 other EU transport associations to call for an increase in the European Union’s transport infrastructure budget, the Connecting Europe Facility, in the upcoming review of the wider EU budget.
The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) currently remains incomplete with only limited funds remaining and demands for those funds massively oversubscribed. Completing the TEN-T could add 10 million additional jobs and increase growth by 1.8% of GDP according to EU transport associations.
Jan Nemec, who leads IRU’s work on infrastructure funding said, “Completing Europe’s core transport network is essential for our future prosperity and growth. The cost of failing to complete the network will be too high on jobs, growth and competitiveness.”
