Government Regulations at IRU/ASMAP Conference in Russia Last Week
Government regulations and the creation of favourable international road transport conditions across Eurasia were topics of the day at the IRU/ASMAP conference in Russia last week.
Dmitry Cheltsov, who leads IRU’s work in Eurasia, underlined the need for harmonising and facilitating road transport, notably through the implementation of the TIR and Harmonization Conventions, to effectively integrate regional economies. He stressed that the creation of a Common market of road transport services within Eurasian should embrace global best practices in order to multiply economic gains.
IRU notably presented a preview of results and recommendations from its 2-year study on permit systems in Eurasia that analysed 286 bilateral intergovernmental agreements in 12 countries.
