OREANDA-NEWS. T-Festival, the largest festival dedicated to hauliers in Southeast Europe, successfully concluded last weekend after a marathon of special contests and an international conference on fair competition in road transport.

Organised by IRU together with its Romanian Member Association, UNTRR, the conference tackled the subject of “Global Trends & EU Challenges in a fast moving world”. Discussions touched on a number of issues, including national rules versus freedom of movement in the European Union, actions toward a level playing field, policies to address the shortage of qualified drivers, road safety, and viewpoints from various national hauliers.

The conference saw the creation of a new strategic partnership between IRU and German software developer, PTV Group, to develop new standards and services for route planning across Europe and beyond. It concluded with an awards ceremony to honour the Top Romanian Road Transport Managers of 2016.
