Euroports Rauma orders smart connected Konecranes lift trucks
OREANDA-NEWS. In late March Euroports Rauma in Finland, ordered 5 forklift trucks, 10 and 16-ton capacity, from Konecranes Lift Trucks. The lift trucks will be delivered together with TRUCONNECT® remote monitoring service in August 2016.
The port has been a Konecranes customer since 1996; this order of four 16 ton and one 10 ton forklifts brings the number of Konecranes lift trucks in their fleet to 57. The new machines will continue to build on the port’s reputation for expert handling of especially pulp and paper as well as sawn timber. The port is the largest export port of paper in Finland and has a specialized fleet of equipment for safe and gentle paper handling that maximizes production and minimizes damage to the rolls.
Patrik Starck, Regional Sales Director Europe of Konecranes Lift Trucks comments, “Rauma want their machines to come with cutting edge lift truck technology, therefore our new C model with the spacious cabin OPTIMA together with our TRUCONNECT® system played a big role in winning the deal. We are proud that our machines and technologies continue to earn Rauma’s trust.” TRUCONNECT is Konecranes remote monitoring service.
As Fleet Manager Petri Viinikkala of Euroports Rauma says, “The TRUCONNECT Remote service means that no matter where the trucks are we have a clear and precise picture of how they are being operated, and how they are running. We can clearly anticipate any issues, to significantly increase uptime and efficiency of our fleet.”
Port of Rauma
Located on the Finnish west coast, the city of Rauma is well known for its paper and maritime industry. Its harbour is the fifth biggest in the country, handling around 6 million tons of cargo every year. With a total of 20 berths, the port offers multipurpose facilities for import, export and transit traffic. The sheltered location of the harbour ensures ideal conditions for both sea and land traffic. The new harbour road provides quick access to the Finnish highway network. The rail line between Rauma and Kokem?ki, carrying about 3 million ton freight each year, is a part of the Finnish railway. Moreover, Rauma is connected with several other European, North American and Asian ports through regular liner services.
