“Yellow Angels” now come by eBike: Motoring associations in Germany and Austria opt for Bosch power assistance
ADAC launches eBike pilot projects in Stuttgart and Berlin
The ADAC's “Yellow Angels” are putting to good use the experience gained by their opposite numbers in Vienna and launching pilot project. In Stuttgart and Berlin trials are under way to see whether using eBikes improves flexibility and speed in the provision of roadside assistance. The ADAC is now using pedelecs power-assisted by the most dynamic and powerful Bosch Performance Line and Performance Line CX drives. The ADAC eBikes have a trailer with a hydraulic brake system that can carry up to 70 kg of tools. The Yellow Angels are directly connected to the central database via a tablet that is part of their equipment.
Based on positive experience gained in Vienna
The ?AMTC reports excellent results from Vienna. In nine out of ten pilot phase callouts the eBike roadside assistance team was able to get the vehicle up and running again. eBikes make swift progress in traffic jams, can use cycle tracks and need very little space in which to park. So they are back in service with this modern form of mobility for a second season from May. The Vienna police are also using power-assisted eBikes. Compared with cyclists and motorists who are in breach of traffic regulations the police officer with power assistance is clearly at an advantage, and on an eMountain bike that includes cross-country assignments.
eBikes: A sign of smart mobility
“eBikes open up unforeseen opportunities for smart mobility, especially in urban areas. The fact that eBikes now assist the 'Yellow Angels' with their customer service and even power the police on duty is indicative of the wide-ranging uses to which this technology can be put,” says Tamara Winograd, Press spokesperson for Bosch eBike Systems.
