Rockwell Collins debuts transformational RC-8800 Microwave Tuner at EW Europe 2016
OREANDA-NEWS. Quickly intercepting and identifying spread-spectrum, frequency agile threats in a congested environment is an operational imperative in Hybrid warfare. The new Rockwell Collins RC-8800 multi-channel microwave tuner enables customers to identify those threats more quickly and accurately than ever before in a small, lightweight, cost-effective package.
The RC-8800 made its European debut today at EW Europe 2016, which takes place May 10-12. It will be featured at the Rockwell Collins exhibit (D7).
“Building on our advanced packaging and small circuit technologies, the RC-8800 achieves state-of-the-art performance in a lightweight, low power small form factor,” said Mike Jones, vice president and general manager of Communication, Navigation and Electronic Warfare Solutions for Rockwell Collins
The RC-8800 multi-channel microwave tuner accepts radio frequency (RF) inputs from 0.5 to 20 GHz, providing multiple bandwidth intermediate frequency (IF) outputs for downstream processing. It can be configured with up to four channels in a single slot. The high dynamic range channels can be tuned independently or together to serve as a single, high probability of intercept system.
The Rockwell Collins digital architecture is centered around an embedded, reconfigurable field programmable gate array (FPGA) and high-speed memory, allowing for fast response, feature development and product enhancements.
This hardware architecture, coupled with advanced, embedded software, supports open system architectures and allows for simple integration and expedited system updates in the field. The standard command set allows straightforward software development by providing control to the tuner’s advanced features and functions.
