OREANDA-NEWS. On the evening of July 23, two American fighters F-15 over Syria approached a passenger aircraft of Mahan Air en route from Tehran to Beirut. Several passengers were injured because of the maneuvers carried out by the liner. After that, the plane had successfully landed at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Majid Takht Ravanchi, contacted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The incident was also reported to the Swiss Ambassador to Tehran, who represents interests of the USA in Iran.

Bill Urban, a spokesman for the US Central Command, claimed the fighter F-15 of the US Air Force kept a safe distance from the passenger airplane of Mahan Air. According to him, a visual inspection of the airliner was carried out to ensure the security of the coalition personnel at the US military base Al-Tanf.
