OREANDA-NEWS The number of trucks in the electronic queue for passage through the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia has approached 4.5 thousand vehicles, according to the website of the Center for Traffic Management of the Republic.

So, as of Wednesday morning, 4,433 trucks were registered in the electronic queue for travel.

Earlier, the head of North Ossetia, Sergei Menyailo, signed an order restricting the entry of trucks from the Russian Federation to Georgia into the territory of the region after filling special parking lots. He noted that the Upper Lars checkpoint is operating normally, but not all traffic lanes are functioning on the Georgian side now. The decision will not affect passenger transport.

The Georgian Military Road runs through the highlands and is currently the only land route connecting Russia with Georgia and Armenia.
