Turkish Authorities do Not Plan to Close the Country to Russian Tourists
OREANDA-NEWS. Russian tourists planning a vacation in Turkey in the near future may not be afraid of new restrictions or tightening of sanitary and epidemiological measures.
As TASS was told at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, the Turkish health and tourism authorities are not planning any restrictions or tightening measures for tourists from Russia, although on the eve of the head of the Union of Infectious Diseases of Turkey, Mehmet Ceyhan called for toughening anti-coronavirus requirements for Russian tourists against the backdrop of an increase in the incidence in the country.
Earlier it was reported that in the event of a worsening of the situation with the spread of coronavirus infection, the Turkish authorities may resort to severe restrictive measures up to the closure of the borders with the Russian Federation.
On Sunday, July 25, Turkey recorded 14,230 cases of coronavirus infection. Since May 11, this is the maximum figure. According to the country's health ministry, it has more than tripled since early July.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the daily increase in the incidence in Turkey has shown a maximum on April 16 of this year - 63,082 cases. Then it gradually began to decline, according to RIA Novosti. In June - the first half of July, it stabilized at the level of 5-7 thousand, but from the middle of July it began to grow again. Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has called for a return to strict anti-coronavirus restrictions.
The day before, on July 25, it was reported that the Turkish authorities are considering the option of introducing mandatory quarantine for arriving Russians. The Turkish authorities, the Ministry of Health and the elite insist on this. There are proposals to completely close the borders.
Mikhail Maltsev, President of the Ural Tourism Association, spoke about the introduction of anti-coronavirus restrictions in one of the most popular countries for recreation among Russians. Turkey is expecting a reduction in coronavirus infection rates in Russia. In this case, the restrictions will not be tightened, the Ura.ru portal quotes the expert.
