OREANDA-NEWS. Rosturizm recommended that tourists must be insured against coronavirus when traveling abroad, the head of the department Zarina Doguzova said on Friday.

"In the summer, many of our citizens traditionally travel to the sea, including to other countries, where, under current restrictions, their own rules for hospitalization and treatment for coronavirus apply. Without insurance, there is a great risk of being left without medical care at all, or its cost will be much higher than the trip itself ", - said Doguzova to reporters.

“Therefore, as in the past year, we urge our citizens to purchase health insurance, and tour operators - to inform our citizens about the possibilities of insurance and the risks that a tourist takes upon himself, refusing to do so,” she said.

The head of Rostourism also said that the department conducts systematic information and explanatory work with business and tourists in order to observe all necessary precautions when traveling in Russia and to other countries.

"Health insurance is an integral element of safety when traveling, especially abroad, so every tourist should fully understand the consequences of refusing to purchase an insurance policy," she added.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with members of the government, noted that vacation abroad is a personal risk and responsibility of each person. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, who reported on the situation with COVID-19 in Russia, agreed with this. Putin also noted that other countries have no obligations to treat Russian tourists.
