Thailand allowed tourists vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to enter Phuket Island and other tourist areas included in the Phuket Sandbox and 7 + 7 programs from September 1, without having to undergo a 14-day quarantine, the Consul General told RIA Novosti RF in Phuket Vladimir Sosnov.

This means that from this date tourists vaccinated with two doses of Sputnik V vaccine are allowed to enter Phuket and to other sandbox zones without the mandatory 14-day quarantine, "the diplomat said.
"Tourists, as before, will have to obtain a certificate of entry permit (COE) at the Thai Embassy in Moscow, but they will already be able to enter Phuket without quarantine - provided that all epidemiological safety rules in force in the Phuket Sandbox zones are observed," he added Sosnov.
Earlier, on August 20, Dmitry Gorin, vice-president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), said that Russian tourists can enter Thailand subject to a 14-day quarantine. Depending on the length of the trip, you need to pass from two to four paid PCR tests and pay for insurance with coverage of $ 100 thousand.
On August 16, the National Committee to Combat COVID-19 in Thailand approved the inclusion of Sputnik V in the list of drugs, the availability of a vaccination certificate for which allows you to visit certain tourist areas of the country, the so-called sandboxes.
According to data on the Worldometer portal, over the past day, the number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand increased by 18,702, 273 deaths from the consequences of the disease were recorded.
