The trade turnover between Russia and Brazil has almost doubled

OREANDA-NEWS In December 2023, the trade turnover between Russia and Brazil almost doubled against the background of record supplies of petroleum products from the Russian Federation. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to data from the Brazilian state service.
For the first time in a month, the volume of trade reached a record high of $ 1.6 billion (an increase of 1.8 times). At the same time, Brazil purchased $ 1.5 billion worth of goods from Russia, which was the highest volume in modern history.
Petroleum products accounted for $1.14 billion in trade turnover between the two countries in December, and Russia became the largest supplier to Brazil in the last month of the year (1.5 million tons). The top three also included the USA (413.5 thousand tons) and the Netherlands (108.6 thousand tons).
In addition, Brazil imported fertilizers ($304.4 million), iron and steel ($14 million) and uranium ($10 million) from Russia. At the same time, exports from Brazil to Russia fell by 17 percent, to $ 63.6 million, and meat, coffee and peanuts became the main products supplied.
Earlier it became known that Brazil joined the OPEC+ Cooperation Charter. It is clarified that at the same time, the country's authorities are not yet going to support the alliance's efforts to reduce oil production.
