OREANDA-NEWS. There are no prerequisites for a sharp increase in unemployment in Russia yet, says Alexander Shcherbakov, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the RANEPA. According to the scientist, it is likely that the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market is temporary and many of them will continue to work in the country, Business News Agency reports.
We can hope for such a development of the scenario if the so-called sabotage of foreign companies in the field of production is overcome, - Shcherbakov explained.
He added that in order to resolve the situation with foreign employers, administrative or criminal measures may be taken. The economist also questioned the promises of most foreign companies to pay salaries to Russian employees for the duration of the downtime. According to him, in the absence of turnover, the fulfillment of these obligations in good faith is unlikely.
The growth of tension in the labor market will increase in the event of the final withdrawal of most foreign companies, but in this case there is hope for Russian entrepreneurs who will occupy the vacated niches and create new jobs, the expert concluded.
Earlier it was reported that the government of the Russian Federation will allocate about 40 billion rubles to support the labor market and prevent unemployment in the regions under the sanctions imposed against Russia. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. It is noted that the government's reserve fund will become the source of financing.
