OREANDA-NEWS. In March, Russians began to buy domestic household appliances. In some retail chains, sales of Russian and Belarusian products increased by 50–70% compared to the same period in 2021. NEWS.ru spoke with Anton Guskov, Director of Public Relations of the Association of Trade Companies and Commodity Producers of Household and Computer Equipment (RATEK), and found out what is the reason for the high demand for Russian and Belarusian brands.
Demand has grown for all equipment, but this category of goods, if we are talking about Russian and Belarusian brands, this equipment is mainly represented in the low and medium price segment. These are mainly refrigerators, washing machines and televisions. In conditions when people have less and less money, they can afford things that are not very expensive. I think this is also connected with this, ”Guskov explained.
He added that Russian and Belarusian household appliances are technically simpler. As a rule, these are less progressive devices, simpler, which is why they are cheaper.
Earlier, a study of the online hypermarket "VseInstrumenty.ru" showed that after the departure of specialized foreign stores from the Russian market, customers most of all lack household appliances, furniture and electronics. It is noted that half of the respondents (49%) admitted that they did not have time to purchase all the necessary furniture and household goods. Despite this, the majority (80%) are ready to purchase the necessary goods from little-known manufacturers.
At the end of February, Russian retailers began to raise prices for household appliances and electronics due to changes in the exchange rate against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, as well as the withdrawal of many brands from the market.
