OREANDA-NEWS  In Russia, they wanted to increase duties on imported electronics — the relevant issue is currently being worked out by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. Vedomosti writes about this with reference to the department's letters to industry associations, manufacturers and state corporations.

The recipients of the letter dated February 29, 2024 include Rostec and Roscosmos state corporations, Computer Engineering consortia (including Aquarius, Yadro and other manufacturers), Telecommunications Technologies (including Rostelecom, Element Group and Rostec) and "Lighting Engineering". It is known that the agency has invited domestic companies to provide data on the volume of current production and the potential of the market for electronic products.

Representatives of the Ministry noted that it is too early to talk about increasing the customs duty on the import of electronics by a specific amount, this issue will be worked out jointly with the Ministry of Economic Development and interested companies. At the same time, first of all, duties can be increased for those product categories where domestic production is sufficient to cover the needs of the domestic market, the source added.
