OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Agriculture initiates a reduction in duties on imported cucumbers and tomatoes if their prices continue to rise. This is reported by the Vedomosti newspaper with reference to sources in the ministry. The amount of the fee reduction is not specified, now it is 10-15%.

In addition, an increase in the duty-free quota for the import of tomatoes from Turkey is being discussed. At the same time, the current quota has been worked out only by 90%, and an increase is possible only after its exhaustion. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, at the beginning of February cucumbers in wholesale cost almost 134 rubles per kilo. This is 15% higher than last year, and tomatoes — 126 rubles, year-on-year growth was almost 12%. The reduction of duties will not have a significant impact on prices, says Irina Koziy, Director General of the Fruitnews News Agency
