OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation will analyze the need to limit the export of red caviar, monitor prices and conduct a dialogue with producers, head of the Ministry Oksana Lut told reporters at the Bioprom 24 forum.

The head of Rosrybolovstvo, Ilya Shestakov, said in mid-September that the agency proposed to introduce such a measure against the background of this year's low Putin, but it did not find support. According to Shestakov's forecast, the catch of Pacific salmon in Russia this year will not exceed 250-260 thousand tons, whereas in 2023 it reached 609 thousand tons (the second result after the 2018 record of 676 thousand tons).

"In the end, red caviar is not a social product. Here we will monitor prices, we will talk with the manufacturer. This is a matter of caviar availability - more fish were caught, more caviar was collected, less price," said Lut, commenting on the possible increase in prices for red caviar.

At the same time, she noted the cyclical nature of the process: this year, fish catch may increase, and next year it may decrease. This is a normal economic process, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted.

At the same time, she added, despite the fact that red caviar is not a social product, the Ministry of Agriculture must first provide Russian consumers. "We will look at it… We will make a decision here," said Lut, commenting on the possible restriction of the export of red caviar in Russia.
