OREANDA-NEWS  The situation with eggs on the Russian market is stable, but producers can raise selling prices by agreement with retail chains - this practice does not require additional regulation, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation told RIA Novosti.

The Vedomosti newspaper, citing sources among manufacturers and in retail, wrote earlier on Friday that two large producers of chicken eggs – the Varaksino and Volzhanin poultry farms – began to raise selling prices for their products. In early October, it was reported that starting in November, the Okskaya poultry farm would raise prices by 5%.

"Currently, the situation in the poultry market is stable. ...At the same time, it is worth noting that long-term contracts concluded between agricultural producers and retail chains provide for the possibility of price adjustments. This is a common practice that applies to all product categories, including food, and does not require additional regulation," the Ministry of Agriculture commented.

They also recalled that as of October 16, selling prices for eggs of the first and second categories have decreased in Russia by 20.6% and 26.6%, respectively, since the beginning of the year. Now their average cost is 75.1 and 61 rubles per dozen.
