The Main Organizer of the Water Blockade in Crimea Promised to Continue to Harm the Crimeans
OREANDA-NEWS. Former Acting Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Andriy Senchenko promised to continue to make efforts to continue the water, transport and commodity blockade of Crimea.
As reported by the State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company "Tavrida" on the air of "Russia 1" and "Russia 24", he stated this on the air of an Internet resource funded by the US State Department.
"As for my own line of conduct, it remains the same. I will do everything to ensure that the water, transport and commodity blockade of Crimea continues," Senchenko said, commenting on the criminal case initiated by the RF IC for organizing an "ecocide" against residents peninsula.
It is recalled that the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the fact of blocking the North Crimean canal. The water blockade of Crimea is qualified as an ecocide (Article 358 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the official representative of the department, Svetlana Petrenko, after the entry of Crimea into Russia, unidentified persons decided to damage the economic, social and environmental situation in the region by blocking the North Crimean Canal. After the construction of the dam in the Kherson region, the supply of Dnieper water through the canal stopped,
The lack of adequate water supply has led to the depletion of agricultural land and changes in the ecosystems of the Sivash Bay. So, over the past six years, the salinity of Sivash has tripled. The population of many species of animal world has decreased, including those listed in the Red Book.
Earlier, the head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, said that the Crimea is provided with water in sufficient volume, there are no interruptions in supply. He also said that experts are studying the composition of fresh water, which was found under the bottom of the Sea of Azov. This water can be put through the North Crimean Canal and used for land reclamation.
We will remind, Ukraine cut off the water supply to the Crimea in retaliation for the expression of the will of the inhabitants of the peninsula. In March 2014, more than 95% of Crimeans voted for the reunification of Crimea with Russia in a referendum envisaged by international law. Ukraine does not agree with this decision.
