The main buyer of Russian grain has been named

OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the 2023-2024 agricultural year (began on July 1 and ended on June 30), Turkey became the main foreign buyer of Russian grain. This is reported by Interfax with reference to the preliminary assessment of Rusagrotrans analysts.
During this period, experts said, Russian agricultural exporters sent a total of 8.9 million tons of grain to Turkey. The achieved result turned out to be much lower than the target of 12.6 million, which was set in the previous agricultural year.
Egypt took the second place in terms of imports of Russian grain. This country bought 8.7 million tons from the Russian Federation, increasing imports by 600 thousand compared to the previous agricultural year. Iran closed the top three, which in 12 months acquired seven million tons of grain from Russia (plus 600 thousand). The top 5 main importers also included Saudi Arabia (4.5 million tons, plus 1.3 million) and Bangladesh (3.8 million, plus 2.2 million).
Earlier, the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut predicted an increase in the volume of exports of Russian agricultural products to the BRICS countries. According to her expectations, by the end of 2024, the total volume of purchases could amount to $ 16 billion in monetary terms and increase by one billion compared to 2023.
