OREANDA-NEWS By the end of July-August, Egypt, by a wide margin from its pursuers, turned out to be the largest buyer of Russian wheat. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the Union of Grain Exporters (FEZ).

The organization clarified that we are talking about purchases made from the beginning of July to August 29. During this period, Egyptian buyers purchased a total of 1.244 million tons of wheat from Russian suppliers.

Bangladesh took the second place in terms of imports, which received 622 thousand tons of this type of agricultural products from the Russian Federation. Turkey closed the top three with a result of 556 thousand tons. At the same time, the FEZ noted that buyers from this Mediterranean country continued to increase imports despite the current ban on the import of wheat. Despite this, they managed to outpace Israel (459 thousand tons) and Kenya (405 thousand) in terms of imports, whose authorities did not impose such a restriction.

Earlier, the FEZ reported that in July-August, Egypt also turned out to be the largest buyer of Russian grain. This African country purchased a total of 1,268 million tons from the Russian Federation during the reporting period and was significantly ahead of its competitors from Saudi Arabia (1,087 million) and Turkey (748 thousand), who took second and third place in the list of main importers, respectively.
