The Head of the Ministry of Labor Answered the Question about Possible Layoffs in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Ministry of Labor of Russia, Anton Kotyakov, said that there are no plans for mass layoffs in Russia. He announced this at a meeting of the State Duma Labor Committee, TASS reports.
“There are no plans for mass layoffs in the labor market at the moment. According to the current labor legislation, the employer is obliged to notify the employment service in the event of a planned reduction of employees two months before such a reduction, and if this is a massive reduction, then three months in advance. To date, such notifications have not been received by employment centers in the Russian Federation,” he said.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Labor of Russia plans to adopt a package of measures by the end of the week to keep citizens employed and support companies that are restructuring their work.
According to the minister, the department conducts daily monitoring of the situation on the labor market in Russia. At the moment, many Russian companies are suspending their work in order to reconfigure production and logistics processes.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Labor assured that the state continues to fulfill all social obligations on time. It is noted that pensions and wages in the country are paid on time. The ministry also conducts operational monitoring of the situation on the labor market and wage payments.
