OREANDA-NEWS In 2024, global gold prices will average 1.9 thousand dollars per troy ounce. This is reported by TASS with reference to the updated forecast of analysts of the international rating agency Fitch.

The previous assessment of experts implied world gold prices in 2024 at around 1.8 thousand dollars per ounce. Thus, the analysts of the rating agency raised their forecast by $ 100.

In 2025, according to their expectations, world gold prices will drop to 1.8 thousand dollars, although the previous estimate assumed an indicator of 1.6 thousand dollars. In 2026, experts expect a further decline in global quotations for the precious metal to 1.6 thousand dollars.

In addition to raising the forecast for global prices, Fitch analysts also updated their estimate of the cost of copper. If earlier they assumed that the cost of metal would be around $ 8.3 thousand per ton this year, now it is at the level of $ 8.4 thousand. At the same time, the price forecast for 2025-2026 remained unchanged and amounted to 8 thousand and 7.5 thousand dollars per ton, respectively.

Earlier, world gold prices updated their historical high during trading on the New York Comex exchange and reached $2,153.55 per troy ounce on March 6. Experts attributed this dynamic to a number of factors, including rising global geopolitical tensions and news about broken communication cables between Europe, Asia and Africa.
