OREANDA-NEWS  By the end of April 2024, the total volume of Russian exports to Greece fell by 52 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and fell to 92.7 million euros in monetary terms. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from the Statistical Service of the European country (Elstat).

For comparison, in April last year, Russian exports to Greece were estimated at 193.2 million euros. Thus, in 12 months, the figure decreased by 100.5 million.

In turn, the export of Greek products to the Russian market during this period of time sank to a lesser extent, decreasing by 2.6 percent to 6.5 million euros. In April 2023, the figure was at the level of 6.7 million. During the year, the income of Greek exporters from sales of products to Russian customers decreased by 200 thousand euros.

Against this background, the trade balance between Greece and Russia remained negative in April. The volume of imports of products into the European country turned out to be much higher in comparison with the income from the export of goods. The deficit amounted to a total of 86.2 million euros, the Greek ministry summed up.

In January 2024, the trade turnover between Russia and Greece showed similar dynamics. So, in the first month of this year, imports to a European country from the Russian Federation decreased by 95 percent compared to the same period in 2023, to 24.7 million euros. In turn, the export of Greek products to the Russian market during this time fell by 31.6 percent, to 6.5 million. The trade deficit then amounted to 18.1 million euros.
