OREANDA-NEWS In October 2024, the Czech Republic increased beer supplies to Russia to a four-year high. The fact that the European country began to supply record volumes of beer, with reference to Eurostat data, RIA Novosti reports.
During the month, four million euros worth of drinks were delivered to the Russian Federation — in annual terms, shipments increased 1.9 times in monetary terms. Poland also increased supplies to 2.3 million euros, or 5.7 times more year-on-year.
Germany remained Russia's main partner, which reduced supplies to six million euros in a month (minus 18 percent in annual terms). Imports of Latvian beer decreased to 3.5 million euros (minus 12 percent), and Lithuanian beer — to 2.6 million (minus 41 percent).
During October, EU countries shipped beer to Russia for 20.5 million euros (minus four percent in annual terms), and since the beginning of the year — for 211 million euros (220 million in 2023).
According to the "Contour.In the autumn of 2024, the average price of beer in Russia increased by 20 percent year-on-year and reached 110 rubles per liter. At the same time, the demand for this alcoholic beverage decreased by 21 percent. Demand fell the most in the Primorsky Territory, where beer began to be bought 36 percent less often with a 25 percent increase in the average bill.
Pavel Shapkin, head of the Center for the Development of National Alcohol Policy, Chairman of the National Union for Consumer Protection, warned that after the New Year prices for all types of alcohol — wine, beer, and various spirits - will increase by 15-20 percent in Russia. The rise in price will occur due to the need to rewrite price tags according to new standards due to the increase in excise rates and newly established minimum prices, he explained.
