Thailand has Extended the Duration of the Quarantine for People Entering the Country
OREANDA-NEWS. The Thai government center for the control of the spread and fight against coronavirus infection has decided to again increase the mandatory quarantine period for those entering the country from abroad to 14 days.
The official representative of the organization Tkhavisin Visanuyotkhin noted that the previously existing rule on reducing quarantine to seven days for persons vaccinated against COVID-19, and up to ten for the unvaccinated, will be canceled.
The rate was changed due to the third wave of coronavirus infection, which began in the country in the first week of April. According to the Ministry of Health, from April 1 to April 24, the daily number of cases increased more than 100 times, from 26 to 2,800 citizens.
In this regard, the center changed the previously existing division of provinces into three types according to the degree of danger of infection, adding to the "red", the highest category, the fourth - the "category of the highest danger". It includes Bangkok and five provinces: Chonburi (on the territory of which the resort town of Pattaya is located), Chiang Mai (northern Thailand), and Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan bordering Bangkok. Another 45 provinces were in the "red" zone, the remaining 26 - in the "yellow", with the lowest, but existing risk of infection.
Visanuyotkhin also said that a ban on leaving the country without emergency is being imposed on the "dark red" territory. It prohibits customer service in catering establishments, the sale of food is only takeaway, and only until 21:00. The number of participants in any event is limited to twenty. Employers were asked to transfer most of their employees to telecommuting. Educational institutions and fitness centers are closed, competitions can be held, but without spectators. On the other hand, there are golf clubs, since there you can maintain a social distance.
