OREANDA-NEWS South Korea will expand the export control list for supplies to Russia and Belarus by 243 items, Yonhap reports, citing the country's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The agency indicated that the new rules will take effect by the end of August after the completion of the necessary procedures.

Thus, the corresponding list, as announced by the Korean authorities, increases to 1,402 positions. In particular, metal-cutting equipment, optical device parts and sensors will be included in it.

It is noted that the general rule will be a ban on the supply of these goods, but the government will be able to approve them on a case-by-case basis, especially when it comes to transactions that were concluded before the current innovations.

Statements on the expansion of export controls followed after the heads of Russia and the DPRK signed a Comprehensive strategic Partnership Agreement. The last time South Korea expanded the list of goods prohibited from being shipped to Russia was last winter. Then it included cars, heavy construction equipment, batteries, aviation components and mechanisms with potential military applications.
