OREANDA-NEWS  Slovakia in August for the first time became the main buyer of Russian goods among all EU countries, but Germany remains the largest trading partner, according to calculations by RIA Novosti according to Eurostat.
Thus, at the end of the summer, Slovakia increased purchases of products from Russia by 2.1 times — up to 320.9 million euros, for the first time becoming its main importer among the EU countries.

Italy is in second place in terms of purchases of Russian goods with 319.2 million euros, and Hungary closes the top three with 300.3 million. Three more countries — Austria, the Netherlands and Spain - imported products worth more than 200 million euros.

At the same time, Denmark became the leader in import growth, with purchases jumping 2.3 times to 27.7 million euros. At the same time, in addition to Slovakia, Portugal also doubled the import of products from Russia — up to 14.1 million euros.

In general, Germany remains Russia's main trading partner in the European Union, although trade with it decreased by 17% in August, to 696.3 million euros. Next are Italy (-26%, 611 million euros), the Netherlands (-110%, 412 million euros), Hungary (-29%, 370 million euros) and France (-21%, 362 million euros).
Slovakia was the sixth main trading partner with a turnover of 337 million euros, although a month earlier it occupied the 13th position.
