OREANDA-NEWS Serbia and Russia will sign an agreement on phytosanitary protection, which will give advantages to Serbian agricultural products in the Russian market. This was announced on Thursday by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Serbia Branislav Nedimovich.

 According to the Minister, as a result, Serbia will become one of the five foreign states whose goods "can be directly imported into Russia without waiting at the border."

Negotiations on the simplified import of Serbian agricultural products into Russia have been going on for quite some time. At the same time, the Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of Serbian products into Russia several times over the past two years. So, in February 2018, the Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import of Serbian pears, and in December of the same year, dairy products raised questions. In both cases, Serbian firms were suspected of re-exporting goods from third countries.
