OREANDA-NEWS  Since the beginning of 2023, Russians have become more likely to insure smartphones and household appliances. This is reported by Kommersant with reference to market representatives.

Over the past nine months, the demand for insurance for the sale of electronics has increased by 10-22 percent due to falling consumer demand and an increase in the loan rate. It was also affected by the lack of authorized service centers, warranty problems and fears of theft of devices.

According to the representative of the network "M.Video-Eldorado", most often buyers insure smartphones, televisions, built-in appliances, washing machines and refrigerators. According to MTS, the increase in smartphone insurance cost from 110 to 140 thousand rubles amounted to 414 percent. The comprehensive policy extends the warranty on the device for a year, and also covers the replacement of the display and the risks of fire, theft, electric shock, mechanical damage as a result of accidents, natural disasters and other emergencies, the company noted. Its cost ranges from 10 to 18 percent of the price of the device.
