OREANDA-NEWS  Demand for soft drinks has been growing in Russia for several years. About this was told by Tatyana Yastrebova, head of the wine and tobacco products purchasing department of the METRO store chain.

According to her, sales of non-alcoholic wines in the chain's shopping malls have increased by 140 percent over the past six months. About 60 percent of customers prefer sparkling wines, and 15 percent prefer quiet white wines. In the manufacture of these drinks, alcohol is removed either by de-alcoholization, or harvested at night so that the fermentation process does not begin.

It is predicted that the market for non-alcoholic wines will continue to grow. As a result, their assortment is also increasing. METRO has already expanded the offer 2.5 times.

At the end of April, it became known that scientists from the Belgorod National Research University were able to create an alcohol-free red wine. It is assumed that it can protect human kidneys during radiography.

And on April 22, 2024, Director of the Center for Research on Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets (CIFRRA) Vadim Drobiz warned that in Russia, manufacturers of low-alcohol beverages will soon begin to massively change the formulation in order to make their products worse, but cheaper.
