OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of the first five months of 2024, the supply of Russian wheat to China increased 9.3 times compared to the same period in 2023 and reached the level of 124.7 thousand tons. This is reported by TASS with reference to data from analysts of the federal center "Agroexport".

At the same time, even such a sharp increase in supplies did not allow Russia to enter the top five largest exporters of this type of product to China. In the structure of Chinese wheat imports, the Russian Federation took the sixth place. The top three in terms of supply volumes are Australia, France and Canada.

In general, since the beginning of 2024, according to the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China, China has purchased more than 8 million tons of wheat from foreign exporters. Thus, Russia accounted for about 1.5 percent of foreign wheat supplies to the Asian country.

Earlier, the Rosselkhoznadzor reported a 16 percent increase in grain exports from Russia to foreign buyers. From January to June 9, shipments reached the level of 40.2 million tons. At the same time, wheat accounted for more than half of shipments (24.9 million tons). Other popular types of Russian agricultural products are corn (4.2 million) and barley (3.9 million).
