OREANDA-NEWS. The "Russian Post" company has decided to reduce harm to the environment and switch to electric vehicles. For the transportation of parcels and letters, the postal network received a test batch of the first commercial electric car GAZelle e-NN, according to the company's website.
A GAZelle powered by an electric motor is capable of transporting up to 2.7 tons of cargo and quickly “refueling” - in half an hour the battery will be charged by 80 percent. A full charge of the electric car is enough to cover 120 kilometers at a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
The Russian Post noted that the company is already actively using a more environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline - gas fuel. An electric van will be launched by the postal network for the first time. Another novelty that the Russian Post will soon begin testing is an electric tricycle. A test batch of electric cars for transportation of small loads will soon be delivered by the Nizhny Novgorod Forward company. Such cars will cost about 600 thousand rubles and will be able to carry up to 90 kilograms.
Another Russian automaker, KamAZ, unveiled the country's first hydrogen-powered passenger bus in early September. The company believes that the future of environmentally friendly transport in Russia lies with this type of fuel - when the appropriate infrastructure appears, hydrogen transport will be able to compete with traditional transport in terms of cost.
