Russia will Toughen Penalties for Fake Documents
OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma at a meeting on Thursday adopted in the third and final reading amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, toughening the responsibility for forging documents.
So, for a fake passport faces up to three years in prison. It also provides for punishment of restriction of liberty and forced labor for the same period. The acquisition and storage of knowingly forged documents (passport, certificate or other official document) is punishable by imprisonment of up to one year.
The State Duma also approved an increase in fines for providing false information when receiving passports or other documents. Citizens will be charged from 3 to 5 thousand rubles, and from officials - from 5 to 10 thousand rubles.
