OREANDA-NEWS The Rosselkhoznadzor has suspended the import of pome and stone fruits from China on August 10. This is stated in the message of the department, received by RBC.

“This decision was made in connection with the ongoing cases of deliveries to the country of plant products of Chinese origin infected with dangerous objects that are quarantined for Russia. So, in 2018–2019, quarantine objects were detected in 48 cases, ”the Rosselkhoznadzor explained this decision. Officials noted that diseases similar to those found in Chinese fruits can reduce yields by 30–90%.

The Rosselkhoznadzor noted that each time after the next batch of fruit crops was infected, the department sent official notes to the National Plant Quarantine and Plant Protection Service of China. Russian officials appealed to their Chinese counterparts six times to offer expert advice and joint inspections. However, there was no reaction to this.
