Russia's Richest Woman Lost Half of Her Fortune
OREANDA-NEWS The richest woman in Russia, the founder of the Wildberries online marketplace, Tatiana Bakalchuk, has lost almost half of her capital. Now Bakalchuk's fortune is $4.2 billion instead of $7.6 billion a month ago. A year ago, the billionaire was ranked 164th on the Forbes list with a fortune of $13 billion. Bakalchuk's main asset is 99% of Wildberries shares. The project is considered a record holder in terms of development dynamics — its profit increased by 1000% over the year.
The decline in Bakalchuk's fortune is explained by the general deterioration of the situation in the global investment market. Shares of Internet companies from Russia (Wildberries, Ozon and others) fell in price by 50% during the winter months of 2021-2022.
"We are neutral about any estimates of the company, as they largely depend on current market factors and may change depending on volatility," the Wildberries press service said.
Wildberries was founded in 2004 by Tatiana (99% of shares) and Vladislav (1% of shares) Bakalchuk. The turnover of the Internet platform is 844 million rubles, and 113 million people use it per month. The company operates in 19 countries, including the USA, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Germany and others.
