Russia has sharply increased the export of meat

OREANDA-NEWS By the end of 2023, the total volume of exports of meat and meat products from Russia increased by 109 thousand tons and reached 800 thousand tons. A sharp increase in the volume of exports of these types of products is reported by TASS with reference to the presentation materials of the president of the agro-industrial holding (APH) Miratorg Viktor Linnik.
In 2022, the volume of exports of meat and meat products from Russia was estimated at 691,000 tons. In monetary terms, total revenues from the export of these types of products can grow by 17.5 percent and reach the $ 2 billion mark, according to Linnik's presentation.
In 2023, the volume of imports also increased. In 12 months, the volume of imports of meat and meat products to Russia increased to 640 thousand tons, although by the end of 2022 they were at the level of 578 thousand. Thus, the increase in annual terms amounted to 62 thousand tons.
China became one of the important markets for chicken meat for Russian exporters in 2023. The Russian Business Ombudsman Boris Titov previously reported on the increase in the supply of these products to the Asian country. In this segment, domestic exporters began to provide serious competition to suppliers from the United States.
