OREANDA-NEWS In October, Russia bought fish in Turkey for a record 57.2 million dollars, compared with last year, the supply growth was about 220 percent. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to data from the Turkish statistical service.
In general, over ten months, the volume of purchases in monetary terms reached 356.1 million dollars against 323.3 million a year earlier, that is, in October, supplies increased sharply.
Sales to Russian importers of frozen trout increased more strongly than other items (2.8 times, to $ 44 million), fresh trout (by 23 percent, to $ 7.2 million) and sea bass (three times, to 1.05 million). In general, Russia accounted for a third of Turkish fish exports in October.
Italy is in second place in terms of exports for Turkish suppliers ($17.3 million), and the Netherlands is in third place ($16.3 million).
Earlier, the head of Rosrybolovstvo, Ilya Shestakov, explained that the unsuccessful Putin should be blamed for the rise in price of red fish in Russia. This year, Russian fishermen have extracted 235 thousand tons of salmon, which is 2.55 times less than in 2023.
Prior to that, the All-Russian Association of Fishermen (WARPE) reported a drop in salmon production in the country to a 19-year low. Experts attributed the negative dynamics to a sharp increase in the costs of fishing enterprises.
