OREANDA-NEWS In the last month of the summer of 2024, Chinese beer imports to Russia increased 1.7 times compared to the same period in 2023. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the customs services of the People's Republic of China.

Thus, the supply of this type of alcoholic beverages reached the all-time maximum value of 3.2 million dollars. During the month, imports increased by almost nine percent.

In total, from January to July 2024, the Russian Federation bought beer in China for 17.9 million dollars. Thus, Russia took the third place among importers of these Chinese products. Australia is on the first with a supply volume of 3.64 million dollars, and Hong Kong is on the second with 3.58 million.

In early August, it became known about the request of Russian brewers to increase import duties on beer from unfriendly countries tenfold in 2024. They justified their initiative by the fact that the active import of foreign beer has a bad effect on the Russian industry. There is a risk that the volume of domestic production in the Russian Federation will fall, and therefore tax deductions.
