OREANDA-NEWS  The Rosselkhoznadzor and the competent authority of India discussed the possibility of supplying Indian potatoes and pomegranates to the Russian Federation, the agency reported.

"On June 13, the Rosselkhoznadzor discussed with representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Government of India the supply of fruits and vegetables from the republic to Russia in a video link format... The Indian side is interested in expanding the range of a number of fruits and vegetables exported, in particular, potatoes and pomegranates," the message says.

The Rosselkhoznadzor also indicates that it has repeatedly sent phytosanitary requirements imposed by the Eurasian Economic Union for the import of fruit and vegetable products, as well as these standards were discussed at bilateral negotiations.

In accordance with the agreements reached, the agency expects information from the Indian side on the planned volumes of exports of potatoes and pomegranates, places of cultivation and distribution of quarantine facilities in the country characteristic of these products, after which the parties will continue the dialogue on expanding the supply of Indian fruit and vegetable products to Russia.

Now Russia imports grapes and raisins from India, of which 14.7 thousand tons have been shipped since the beginning of the year; dried vegetables - 2.3 thousand tons; bananas - 100 tons. Tobacco raw materials and tea are supplied in significant volumes.
